Working with the NHS
We currently run four schemes in Camden and Wandsworth in partnership with NHS Trusts. These partnerships help support people with complex mental health needs to transition from hospital wards to independent living.
We recognise the importance of working in partnership with other organisations.
Collaborating means we and, most importantly, our customers benefit from the expertise and experience external partners bring. As an organisation that doesn’t want to stand still or keep on doing the same - rather we want to learn and continue improving - these partnerships are fundamental to how we operate.
We will continue to develop our health partnerships across London and the Home Counties.
Spotlight on Thrale Road
Our Thrale Road facility opened in 2019.
In partnership with South West London and St George’s Mental Health Trust, Thrale Road is a world-class service and one of very few truly integrated mental health and housing schemes. Residents live independently but are supported 24/7 by trained staff who enable them on their path to recovery.
Charlotte Langley, customer at Thrale Road, said:
“The staff in Westmoor’s sister project in Wandsworth have, in partnership with NHS staff, helped me begin the long process of rebuilding my life. Having struggled through physical and mental health problems, including spending long periods of time in hospital, it was great to have the freedom to come and go as I please. The care and support I have received in the NHS was what I needed at the beginning but having somewhere to go afterwards was crucial.”
Kelly McMinn, One Housing’s Head of Mental Health, said:
“Thrale Road opened in 2018 and Westmoor in 2019. Although they are both new services we are already seeing our customers thrive and make steps towards greater independence. We have had customers successfully move on after the first year as well as many others on their way to moving on to less supported settings or their own flats. Both have provided a place for people who previously spent many years in hospital to get well, make new friends and take ownership of their wellbeing and have greater independence.”
Tile House
Our Tile House facility opened in 2012.
It was our first integrated facility from our strategic alliance with Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust’s (C&I).
Tile House is an innovative integrated supported housing scheme in Kings Cross which provides 15 high quality self-contained supported housing units designed to a high specification, and intensive support to 15 people with complex mental health needs.
Purpose designed safety features enable us to effectively manage risk, while homely communal areas can be used for workshops and groups sessions. Support is delivered in partnership with C&I who provide clinical on-site support. This enhanced level of integration enables shared management of risk and joint responsibility for recovery outcomes.
Tile House has helped customers to move on to other forms of accommodation and to avoid eviction from the service. We expanded the 'Care Support Plus' model with the opening of 12 additional flats at Cliff Road, Camden in July 2016.
